Why Most Roulette Systems Fail
A lot of people that like online casinos have paid for a roulette system only to find that it doesn’t work. I thought I would take a moment or two to speak about why most roulette systems fail.
Roulette has a house edge that is built into the layout of the game. It is absolutely impossible to overcome this edge regardless of any combination or series of bets that you make, the house edge is always there.
The house edge alone is enough to kill of the majority of roulette systems over the long term. Strangely however most roulette systems fail long before the house edge would kill them off because they don’t maximize a players odds.
A classic example of this is the martingale system where you increase your bets after a loss. It often works over the short term which fools people into thinking that it works. The martingale is a complete failure because it’s inevitable that you will get a losing run (especially with online roulette) and this will take away any winnings plus your original bankroll.
This is why losing to the house edge and losing to the martingale are different. The house edge takes money from you slowly but the martingale will make you lose all in one go. It’s also worth pointing out that with when you win with the martingale you only ever gain one unit, regardless of how large your bets get.
Roulette systems also fail because they are often based on past results. The common theory behind a system is that you should bet on something when it hasn’t shown for a few spins. This is known as gamblers fallacy and it doesn’t work, especially with real roulette wheels.
Theoretically with online roulette you could use previous spins to predict the future because it’s a software program and it will do whatever it’s programmed to do. I should say however that while it is certainly possible to use past results to predict the future with online roulette it’s not very likely because it would take a lot of time and research over a lot of spins. These are the most common reasons for roulette systems failing whether it be for a real roulette wheel or for an artificial wheel in an online casino.
